Leave Your Campsite Better Than You Found It

Allan B HeadFormer NCBA director Allan Head – who died in February at age 73 – left a legacy of service to the profession that spanned almost half a century.

He also left a motto that would be a great mission statement for your law practice: always leave your campsite better than you found it.

You have the privilege of doing that every day.

You can do it by serving your clients with integrity and pride. You can do it by thanking your staff for their hard work. You can do it with a smile, a wave, or a friendly greeting to a stranger on the elevator.

You can do it by contributing to your community, by serving pro bono, and by giving to others with no expectation of return.

You can do it by taking good care of yourself, and by being there for your family and loved ones.

In all these and hundreds of other ways, you have an opportunity to brighten the world around you. Take advantage of that opportunity, and good things will come your way.
