12 experts, 5 trends, 1 new approach to law firm management: Managing Partner Summit

The most significant gathering of law firm leaders is taking place in Raleigh on March 12, there are a few seats left. If you serve as a Managing Partner, law firm leader, or executive staff, the 2nd Annual Managing Partners Summit is for you.

Last year, lawyers and professional staff leaders from 67 law firms across the state gathered at the North Carolina State Bar headquarters for a day of interactive learning and networking. This year’s event promises to be even better, offering insights from leaders and innovators in the legal community. The beautiful NC State Bar headquarters will once again host this event which takes place on March 12th.

Last year’s program focused on topics such as the future of law, succession planning and business development. Highlights from the 2018 program can be found online in the Summit Report, which includes survey results about law firm management topics.

This year’s keynote address by Timothy B. Corcoran will focus on adapting and thriving in the changing legal marketplace. Afternoon sessions will also discuss growth strategies and inclusion and diversity in the legal workplace.

Corcoran is a keynote speaker, consultant, author, and legal commentator. With deep experience spanning two decades as a corporate executive, he guides law firm and law department leaders through the profitable disruption of outdated business models. Tim is a faculty member in the Legal Lean Sigma Institute and a Fellow and Trustee in the College of Law Practice Management. Tim also authors the widely read Corcoran’s Business of Law blog.

“Last year’s program was the first of its kind in the state and we received really great feedback. We are back this year with even more information to share for what promises to be another impactful and empowering program,” says Camille Stell, President of Lawyers Mutual Consulting and Services.

One of the highlights from last year’s program was the conversation among peers segment. This year’s conversation will be in a slightly different format. Firms of all sizes will participate in one facilitated discussion and “deep dive” in survey results obtained prior to the Summit. Audience members will discuss best practices around hot topics such as: compensation models and funding retirement, recruiting and retaining millennial talent, when to hire a chief operating officer or director of administration, review of health and other benefits packages.

Attendees can also look forward to the addition of “conversations with the experts.” Audience members will be able to sign up for “speed dating” with the experts. This will be an opportunity to meet the speakers for a brief one-on-one session to discuss your highest priority challenge for your law firm or question from the day’s presentations.  Sign up will be available during the day and spots will be limited.

The Managing Partners Summit is all about helping law firms adapt and grow to ensure longevity in the ever-changing legal landscape. We are looking forward to another great program and another opportunity to continue to serve the legal community.
