In the Claims Department we like to talk about how Lawyers Mutual is different from other carriers. And when we say different, we mean better. We’re the only legal malpractice insurance carrier in North Carolina that has a staff of licensed North Carolina attorneys here to handle claims and help insureds avoid claims. We’re the only carrier that has been operating a claims repair program for more than 30 years in North Carolina. We have the best panel of defense attorneys and are responsible for more favorable appellate decisions than any other carrier. We’re the only insurer that has claims attorneys who travel all over the state offering useful and timely risk management presentations.
We are passionate about what we do and committed to fulfilling the mission of Lawyers Mutual to provide the best service possible. That means we can never be satisfied with where we are. We are always looking for ways to improve our service. In the last two years, we had a substantial decrease in claims frequency. With fewer claims to monitor, we are able to devote more time to each claim and handle more of the work in-house. It has also allowed us to find new ways to serve our insureds. We nearly doubled the number of risk management seminars that we offered to insureds this past year. We are in the process of implementing a new program to provide assistance where an insured retires, dies or becomes incompetent. We also increased the number of newsletter articles, blog posts and e-mail alerts that were provided to our insureds. Service is our number one goal, and that is reflected by the strong loyalty of our insureds.
