Department Staff Biography
John E. Raper, Jr.

A Member of the Lawyers Mutual Board since 1988, Mr. Raper practices law in Fayetteville with the Raper Law Firm PLLC and practiced with McCoy, Weaver, Wiggins Cleveland & Raper PLLC from 1961 to 2004.  His practice areas are business, tax law, trusts and estates, and litigation in those respective areas.  He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina (Phi Beta Kappa) and New York University School of Law (Root-Tilden Scholarship) and attended the University of Goettingen, Germany (Goettingen Exchange Scholarship).  He has served on the North Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors and as President of the Lawyers of North Carolina and Cumberland County Bar Association.  Active in civic affairs, he served on the Board of Trustees of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, the North Carolina Historical Commission and the Board of Trustees and as Vice-Chairman of Fayetteville State University.
